Can you flat tow a Fiat 500 automatic?

I’m taking my RV on a road trip and I want to use my Fiat 500 as a dinghy car. Can I tow it behind the RV?

No, you cannot flat tow an automatic Fiat 500. Only manual transmission Fiat 500s with front-wheel drive can be flat towed. Not to worry, though! You can still tug your automatic Fiat 500 behind you on your road trip—you just need a few extra items to help you do it:
  • Base plate: This is a steel brace installed on the front of your car.
  • Tow bar: This is the steel arm that connects your car to the back of your truck or RV.
  • Safety cables: These are cables that keep your car connected to your truck or RV if your tow bar fails.
  • Wiring lights: These are auxiliary tail lights placed on the back of the towed vehicle to signal turns and braking to other motorists.
  • Supplemental braking system: This is a system that synchronizes your towed car’s brakes with your towing vehicle’s brakes.
Before you hit the road, you’ll also want to make sure that you have good insurance for your Fiat 500. That’s because RV insurance doesn’t cover trailers or towed vehicles. For the best
