Can you drive a salvage title car in Georgia?

My car was in a wreck last year, and I’ve been slowly fixing it up. It’s running well, and I’m ready to get it back on the road. Can you drive a salvage title car in Georgia?

You cannot drive a salvage title car in
Georgia
; you’ll need a rebuilt title.
Salvage title
cars are not legal for road use, and you cannot insure them. Once you have performed the required repair work,
you must apply for a rebuilt title
. Only then will you be able to drive this vehicle on public roads.
To change a salvage title into a rebuilt title, you’ll need to follow these steps:
  • Complete all necessary repairs
  • Submit the appropriate documents—including the salvage title, bill of sale, and photos or receipts documenting the repair process—to the DMV
  • Set up an
    inspection
    with a state-approved inspector
  • Hire a tow company to transport your car to the inspection site
  • Apply for the rebuilt title
If the DMV clears your vehicle, you’ll receive a rebuilt title and will be able to drive your car on public roads once again.
