Can you drive a salvage title car in California?
I have a salvage title car that’s been repaired. Do I need to do anything official to change its status? Can you drive a salvage title car in California?

A salvage title car in California may not be driven on the road.
To be eligible for insurance (and road legal), you must apply for a rebuilt title. An examiner will review the quality of the rebuild to ensure the vehicle is safe. Only then can you apply for a new rebuilt title. Check with the California DMV to confirm which forms you’ll need to fill out.
Car insurance for your rebuilt vehicle can be tricky but you need it to drive legally in California, so make sure you shop around and find coverage.
