Can you drink in a motorhome while driving?

My friends and I are planning a road trip in an RV, and I’m in charge of bringing the food and drinks. Obviously, I know that the driver can’t drink while driving, but I’m not sure what the rules are for the rest of the passengers. Can you drink in a motorhome while someone’s driving?

That sounds like a fun trip! You most likely cannot drink while a motorhome is driving, but you’ll have to check your state’s laws. Most states won’t allow open alcohol containers in any part of an RV or motorhome, but some states allow drinks to be stored in the vehicle’s living quarters or in areas not accessible to the driver.
Under open container laws, alcohol is not permitted in the driver or front passenger area of an RV or motorhome, including the glove box area. On top of that, forty states forbid the possession and consumption of open alcohol containers in an RV.
Remember, drinking and driving is illegal in every state. Some states differ in terms of storing alcohol in an RV or motorhome, but storing is not the same as drinking. To be safe and on the right side of the law, alcohol should never be open or consumed in an RV or motorhome.
