Can you change your oil when the car is hot?

I’m changing my own oil for the first time and I’m just wondering, is it safe to change my oil when the engine is still hot? Or is that dangerous/bad idea?

In answer to your question, yes–it is perfectly safe to change your oil when the engine is hot. Just be careful not to directly touch any components that are especially toasty.
