Can they repossess my car if I am 21 days late on my payments?

I am 21 days late on my car payment and I’m wondering if I’m at risk of the car being repossessed or do I have more time to pay? I’m in a little bit of a tough spot financially at the moment.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having financial troubles. On the bright side, many lenders won’t repossess a vehicle until the payments are between 60 and 90 days late. However, this rule can vary from lender to lender so the best thing to do is get in contact with your lender and ask about their repossession policy.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, let your lender know and be candid with them about your situation. There may be a few options available to you that can keep the threat of repossession at bay. You may want to ask about:
  • changing your due date
  • changing your payment schedule to fit your financial needs
  • deferring your
