Sorry to hear you got charged with reckless driving. The good news is that reckless driving is unlikely to affect your employment opportunities.
In most states, employers will do a routine background check as standard procedure. If not, you may be required to report any convictions on your application. Do not hide your reckless driving charge, as lying will give the employer a reason to reject your application.
Unfortunately, a reckless driving charge will have a larger impact on employment prospects for certain occupations. This includes:
- Public-facing roles — Public-facing figures are often more scrutinized. Having a reckless driving charge can lead to bad publicity for the company and is a valid reason to reject your application.
