Can my PIP pay for transportation to doctor's appointments in Kansas?

Would my PIP cover transportation if my car is too damaged to drive to doctor's appointments? My car was severely damaged in an accident. I have to take alternative transportation to my doctor's appointments.

“In
Kansas
, your PIP will cover:
  • medical expenses
  • disability/loss of income
  • in-home services like housekeeping
  • funeral expenses
  • rehabilitation expenses
Typically transportation expenses aren’t included within coverage.
If you were not at fault in an accident, you have a few options.
  • You can see if the other driver’s insurance will pay for a rental car until you’re able to get another vehicle or yours is repaired.
  • You could also try to negotiate with the other driver’s insurance for a settlement that includes transportation costs.
If you were at fault in the accident, you’ll need to have
rental reimbursement coverage
on your policy. This would pay for a rental car for you to get to appointments or work.
For what your policy will specifically cover, you should reach out to your car insurance company. They’ll be able to provide you with additional information.”
