Can I use my own car for a driving test?

I’ve got my driving test coming up next month, and I’m super excited! I want to make sure I’m totally prepared so that I don’t fail the test the first time (like my brother did—I’ve been giving him a hard time about it). One of the things I’m most worried about is which car I’m driving. Am I allowed to use my own car for the test?

No doubt, your first driving test can be a nerve-racking experience. But I have good news. Unless your state’s DMV has a special law, you can use your own car for a driving test! In fact, most states encourage you to use your own vehicle.
To make sure that you emerge triumphant from your test, ensure your car is in great condition. Double-check that each of these parts is working:
  • Headlights
  • Turn signals
  • Hazard lights
  • Seat belts
  • Horn
Of course, you should also confirm that the basic parts of your car, like the engine and tires, are up to snuff. If your car’s in good shape, you’re ready to rock and roll!
