Can I submit a claim to my insurance if I scratched my new car?

"Should I submit a claim to my insurance for my new 2021 Fiat? I scratched it recently and am really upset. It's my first car and I want to keep it in excellent condition."

“It can be extremely frustrating to damage a new car, but accidents happen.
If you want to get the scratch repaired through your insurance, you’ll need to make sure you have the proper coverage on your policy. You’ll need
comprehensive insurance
 and
collision insurance
 to get the damage covered.
Even if you do have full coverage, you should first get an estimate from a repair or auto body shop. You’ll be able to see what the out of pocket cost is and compare it to the cost of your deductible.
If the cost to repair the scratch is less than your deductible, you’ll have to pay out of pocket regardless.
If the cost is more, you’ll still have to pay for your deductible but your car insurance will cover the rest.”
