Can I return a leased car if it's not running correctly?
I signed a 24-month lease on a vehicle, but it's running poorly—even after service. Even though it’s only been six months, can I return the leased vehicle?

Unfortunately, it’s going to be difficult to return the car even if it’s having difficulty.
When you sign a lease, you may have a grace period in which you can return the car without penalty, but that is typically only 24-48 hours. There may also be a contingency period, but that will be specific to your contract.
Another option would be to get the car declared a
lemon
as determined by the laws of your state, which means the dealer will have to give you a new ride. Typically, however, you’ll need to take the car for maintenance a few more times before it meets those qualifications. Your final option would be to back out of the lease, but that generally comes with hefty fees and it could impact your credit score.
