Can I renew my driver’s license online in Nebraska?

I’ve been living in Omaha for five years now and I just realized this means I’m going to need to renew my Nebraska driver’s license this year. Is there any way to do it online? I’m not a huge fan of the DMV.

You’re not alone—most of us aren’t huge fans of waiting around in the DMV. However,
Nebraska
does allow you to renew your driver’s license online so you can avoid having to go in person.
You will need to meet the following requirements, however:
  • Your personal information has NOT changed
  • You’re under 72 years old
  • You have NOT replaced your license more than two times within the last five years
Drivers who are under the age of 21 will also have specific guidelines to follow in order to renew online—these can be found at
Nebraska’s DMV website
.
If you meet the online renewal requirements, you may then head to Nebraska’s
online portal
and follow the directions to complete the process. At the end of the renewal application, you will need to pay a $28 renewal fee, $4.50 security charge, and any additional processing fees with a credit or visa card.
You should receive your renewed license in the mail within 20 days of your renewal’s receipt.
