Can I renew my driver's license online in Minnesota?

My Minnesota driver’s license expires next month, and I really don’t want to have to go to the DMV and wait for hours. Can I renew it online?

We understand—the DMV is the worst. Unfortunately, **you cannot renew your driver’s license online in
Minnesota
**—you can only renew in person or by mail in special cases.
To renew your license at a Minnesota Driver’s License Office, you’ll need to complete a renewal application. You also have to bring your driver’s license (current or expired) and your Social Security number. Expect to have your vision screened and your photo taken as well. For a regular Class D license, you’ll also have to pay a $32 fee.
After you get your new Minnesota license in hand, it may be time to revisit your
car insurance
policy next—because you might be paying more than necessary for coverage. The easiest way to make sure you’re getting the best deal is to use the
Jerry
app. After you download the app and sign up, you’ll gain access to all the best rates for whatever coverage you need in a matter of minutes.
