"Can I get a car loan if my asylum status is pending? "

"I am in the U.S. seeking asylum. My asylum status is currently pending approval but I have a valid SSN and am authorized for at least the next two years. Under the law I am able to renew every two years and I plan on staying here as long as I possibly can, hopefully forever. Am I able to get a car loan?"

“This is tricky because your current status in the U.S. is technically unknown and you could be here for the duration of a loan or the laws and/or your situation could change at any point. This unfortunately makes lenders very hesitant.
The only way to really know for sure is to apply for a loan and see what the lender has to say. You might have pretty good luck getting a personal loan instead of an auto loan, or if you are really desperate for a car, you can check with a Buy Here/Pay Here dealership, but you should be prepared to pay a lot of money each month.
Also keep in mind that when budgeting for a vehicle, you will also need to get insurance. You can find good deals by using a smart comparison tool like

to help you find the best rates.”
