Can I cook in an RV while it’s moving?
My husband and I recently purchased an RV and are really excited to try out all the facilities on our next road trips. We’ll probably use almost everything while parked, but we are curious—can I technically cook in an RV while it’s moving?

Woohoo! There’s nothing like a good ol’ fashioned road trip!
When it’s just you and the open road, the possibilities feel endless. And while you might feel free to do whatever, it’s simply not a good idea to cook while the RV is in motion.
In many states, you need to be seated and buckled while the vehicle is moving. If a cop sees anyone standing or walking inside of the motorhome, they have the right to pull you over and ticket you for violating the seatbelt laws.
In the event that you are driving in a state that does not require you to remain buckled and seated, you could technically cook while an RV is in motion, but it’s not very safe and we do not recommend it.
If a passenger is up and moving around the cabin and the driver suddenly stops or there is an accident, the passenger could be thrown across the RV and be severely injured. If they are using knives to cut things or handling hot or liquid items, there is a huge risk of getting hurt and creating a huge mess.
Your safest option is to wait until you’re pulled over at a camp site or a designated rest stop. Getting to your destination all in one piece is worth much more than one hot meal.
