Can I claim driving lessons on my taxes?

It seems like a long shot, but my son received school credit for his driving classes, so I thought they might be tax-deductible. Will I be able to claim driving lessons on my taxes?

Most often, driving lessons are not tax-deductible. They are generally considered a personal expense, which you can’t claim on your federal taxes.
However, some states offer
tax credits or deductions
for driver’s ed. If you live in Iowa or Minnesota, for example, you’ll be able to deduct any fees that you pay to a driving instructor in a K–12 education program.
To find out if your state offers deductions for driver’s ed, check the website of your state comptroller or board of revenue. You should be able to find information related to claiming the cost of driving lessons on your state income tax.
