I know electric batteries have to be replaced at some point. How long before they typically need replacing? Can electric cars last 300k miles?

Great question! Yes,
electric cars
can last 300k miles, however, it depends on the quality the car and how well you maintain it.
An article by
Digital Trends
shares that a few years ago Tesloop—a Tesla shuttle service in California—tested how far their EVs could drive before seeing reductions in battery health and deteriorations in other car parts. The company used seven vehicles: a mix of Model X, Model 3, and Model S. Each individual vehicle drove over 300,000 miles each.
One of Tesloop’s Model S, went beyond 400,000 miles. Within those total miles, the battery was replaced twice. The first time was after 194,000 miles due to degradation caused by frequent supercharging. The second was because of an assembly malfunction.
Like internal combustion engine vehicles, some of the internal mechanical parts had to be replaced. Some parts included axles, seating, windshields, and even a flash memory chip which was said to be “a common weak point”. The cars otherwise held up well and saved the company tens of thousands of dollars on fuel.
