Can companies like Progressive require that I use a specific facility for car repairs?
I need to take my car in for repairs after an accident. Do I have to use the shop the insurer recommends?

“No, car insurance companies can’t force you to use a specific provider for your repairs. You have the right to repair your vehicle at the shop of your choice, even if Progressive provides a list of recommended options.
When looking for your own repair shop, you should keep in mind that the insurance company will not pay for more than the cost of repairs determined by an adjuster. “
