I want to visit my sister in Minneapolis so she can see her niece for the first time. I’ve never traveled with a newborn before, so I’m a bit anxious about the trip. Can a 2-month-old child travel safely by car?

Congratulations on your new baby! The good news is that if you want to take your 2-month-old to visit your sister by car, you shouldn’t have any problems. Just make sure to plan ahead and break the trip into shorter sections.
My favorite tips and hacks for traveling with a 2-month-old baby by car easier include:
- Have some children’s music, which can soothe your child if they start to get fussy.
- Stop at least every 3 hours.
- Practice ahead of time so your child is used to being in the car for a lengthier period of time.
- Dress the 2-month-old in pajamas or loose clothing so they’re comfortable.
- Bring a blanket to cover your child.
- Turn the climate control to a cooler temperature, which makes sleeping easier.
- Plan your trip to coincide with your child’s sleeping schedule so they don’t get ornery.
