Are Zipcars worth it?

Should I pay to rent a Zipcar? As a non-car owner who lives in a city, I don't need to drive that often. It's usually when I have to something that's inconvenient to get to on public transportation.

“Living in a city with good public transportation often means you don’t need a car. But, understandably, situations arise where you need to borrow a car, which is why services like Zipcar exist.
As a non-car owner, you have a few options when it comes to borrowing cars. If you only need cars on an hourly or daily basis, Zipcar may be a great option for you.
A Zipcar membership costs $7 per month or $70 a year. The membership fee includes
liability coverage
as well as roadside assistance. The hourly rates for renting are as low as $9 per hour, depending on where you live.
If you need a car to run an occasional errand, Zipcar can be a safe and reliable option, as long as there is a Zipcar station near you. If not, there are other subscription services available in most major cities. You can research to find what the best options are for you.
If you do find yourself using Zipcar or borrowing cars more often, consider getting a
non-owners policy
. Non-owners car insurance extends coverage to any vehicle you drive or borrow when you don’t own a car.
