Are self-driving cars legal in Oregon?

I want to buy a self-driving car as soon as they go on sale. I know it’s still years away, but I’m intrigued to the point of obsession. My only issue is that the Oregon government in my home state might try to heavily regulate these cars. Are self-driving cars legal in Oregon?

Self-driving cars are legal in Oregon and there are only two bills regarding them in the state legislature. If you’re ready to get behind the wheel of a self-driving car in
Oregon
, don’t stress.
Passed in March 2018, the two bills state the following:
  • Operators of self-driving cars are exempt from state laws regarding tailgating or following too closely.
  • The Department of Transportation is responsible for creating a Task Force on Autonomous Vehicles, responsible for the testing, studying, assessment, and subsequent adoption of self-driving cars.
