Are Jeeps good on gas?

I have my heart set on a Jeep as my next car purchase, but I’m still weighing the pros and cons. I’ve heard that Jeeps can be gas guzzlers (an obvious con), and I’m hoping to buy a vehicle that gets decent fuel economy so my question is—are Jeeps good on gas?

I couldn’t agree more, Jeeps are so classic! Some Jeeps with larger engines like the
Grand Cherokee
or
Wrangler
have a less than stellar reputation for gas consumption. Luckily, Jeep offers more compact models in its lineup that can get an improved mileage rate than those of yesteryear.
Take the
Jeep Renegade
for instance. This most compact model gets about:
  • 22 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city
  • 30 mpg on the highway
The
Jeep Compass
is also a good choice if you’re looking for improved gas mileage, boasting:
  • 23 mpg in the city
  • 32 mpg on the highway
Regardless of what kind of vehicle you drive, you should feel good about how much you pay for
