Are electric cars good for driving for Uber?

You’re in luck, electric cars are great for driving with Uber! Uber actually pays EV drivers $0.50 more per trip through its Uber Green program. Your eligibility might change based on where you live, but the company expanded the program to more than 1,400 North American cities in 2021.
And that isn’t the only way electric car drivers can save by working for Uber. In its plan to become a zero-emissions company, Uber has developed a bunch of incentives to encourage its drivers to switch to electric vehicles.
For an electric car owner such as yourself, the best benefit of being an Uber Green driver is the charging discounts you get at EVgo stations.
That said, there are a few things you should know about working for a rideshare service like Uber, no matter what kind of car you drive.
- You might not make as much as you expected. The amount of money you can make as an Uber driver depends on where you live, the hours of the day you work, your rating as a driver, how well you know your area, and many other factors. Do your research before you get started.
- You should join a local Facebook groups of drivers. These groups are the best resources for learning how to make a living as an Uber driver in your area.
- Driving for Uber will increase the wear and tear on your car. Expect to spend a lot more time cleaning your vehicle, inside and out. And keep a close eye on your odometer. The amount of miles you rack up might surprise you.
- Car insurancewill be more expensive. Working for Uber will require you to find rideshare coverage which will cost more than your regular car insurance.
