Are electric cars allowed in the Philippines?

My husband’s job might relocate him to the Philippines, and we’re concerned about being able to drive an electric vehicle over there. Are electric cars even allowed in the Philippines?

What an exciting prospect! The Philippines is absolutely gorgeous. You’ll be happy to know that electric vehicles are legal in the Philippines.
Here’s what we know about electric vehicles in the Philippines:
  • The government’s policy on the development and regulation of EVs is now a law in the Philippians.
  • We all know that EVs aren’t cheap to produce, but the Philippines has a limited selection due to import duty. Not all vehicles fit special rules or free trade agreements, making them even more expensive.
  • Popular models available include the
    Nissan Leaf
, Jaguar I-Pace, Porsche Taycan, Lexus RX 450h, **and the **BYD E6.
Now that you can feel confident about your EV options if you embark on a new adventure in the Philippines, make sure you’ve also got the best coverage when you’re on the open road. Most Americans overpay for their monthly policy; don’t let that be you!
