Are Coilovers Worth Having for Daily Driving?

I’m looking into coilovers to lower my car’s suspension, but I’m seeing conflicting information between coilovers and lowered springs. Lowered springs are apparently better for daily driving, which I want to do in my car, but I want the handling of coilovers. Are coilovers worth having for daily driving?

In amateur racing, having coilovers is a great way to improve speed and handling, which is definitely something drivers favor more than comfort. But comfort is what most people want in their day-to-day commutes, which coilovers can significantly reduce because they stiffen suspension. So to answer your question: no. Not as long as you value your spine.
Lowered springs are a great alternative for your daily commuter car if you want the look that coilovers offer, because they’re cheaper and they don’t stiffen your suspension as much as coilovers. The tradeoff is, of course, performance, but that shouldn’t be an issue in a commuter car.
Also keep in mind that no matter what you choose, coilovers and lowered springs can make your car
more desirable to would-be thieves
. So make sure you’ve got up-to-date anti-theft measures, and
comprehensive insurance
if the worst should happen.
