Are Camaros good first cars?

Is it a bad idea to let my son get a Camaro as his first car? He found one that he loves, and it is within our budget, but I’m a little hesitant because it’s such a fast car. Should I buy a Camaro for him or make him get something a little more tame?

It’s great that you’re looking out for your son’s needs and interests rather than just one or the other! In general, however, a
Chevrolet Camaro
is not considered a good first car for the very reason that you listed: it’s notorious for speed.
Cars like the Camaro and other sports cars are typically best saved for drivers with more experience, as teenagers are more likely to behave recklessly behind the wheel. To avoid accidents, stick to cars with a low top speed.
It’s also often very expensive to insure teenage drivers, even if you choose a practical car. To find the best rates for your son, check out the
