A BMW 328i has how many cylinders?

It was only a matter of time—my twin 16-year-old niece and nephew ruined my 6-year-old son’s Christmas. They’ve convinced him that Santa Claus doesn’t ride a sleigh to deliver gifts. They told him Santa drives a three-cylinder subcompact hatchback, so it would be logistically impossible to bring gifts to every kid on Earth. My son was in hysterics, yelling “Santa’s only got three cylinders!” It got me thinking—how many cylinders does my BMW 328i have?

A
BMW 328i
has four cylinders in its engine.
The 328i last rolled off the production line back in 2015, and its standard mill was a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 240 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque. That’s a punchy engine, but even a four-cylinder 328i wouldn’t help Santa hit every chimney on the planet.
Even if Santa drove, say, a 2015
BMW 335i
, with its burly 3.0-liter V6 and 300 horsepower, jolly ol’ St. Nick would run up against an unfortunate reality—more cylinders may mean more power, but a higher-cylinder engine will guzzle fuel faster. This means he’d have to stop multiple times to fuel up on his night-of-all-nights. Not efficient.
