What do I do if I want to switch car insurance companies?

I've had a policy with the same car insurance company for a really long time. Basically ever since I bought my first car. But my rates are going up and I'm starting to wonder if I can get a better deal somewhere else. How do I switch car insurance companies? Is it hard?

If you’re considering switching car insurance companies, the best place to start is by getting quotes from a few different providers. Each insurance company has its own set of underwriting guidelines and rating factors, which is why prices can vary so greatly between companies. Getting multiple quotes will help you determine which company is offering you the best price.
Once you find a company offering you an affordable insurance premium, making a down payment on that policy will issue your new insurance coverage. Once your new policy has been set up, you can cancel your old policy.
