I'm not familiar with buying home or renters insurance. How long do you have to wait to get coverage?

Thanks for the question! It can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of days to purchase a policy. The good news is that most companies can offer same-day or next-day coverage for homeowners and renters insurance. If you want to expedite the process, be sure to have the right documents (mortgage contract, current insurance policy, etc.) and details about your property (build, materials, heating type, recent renovations and repairs, etc.) on hand.
