What is the process to renew my car insurance?

"I got car insurance from the dealership when I first purchased my car. My policy is about to expire. How do I renew it? Do I need to stay with the same company?"

“When it’s time for your
car insurance
policy to renew, you have a choice. You can either stay with your current company or you can shop around.
If you decide to stay with your current company, your policy likely will not change. However, a renewal period is typically a time when an insurance company can decide to re-rate your policy. This may mean that your rate increases or decreases.
Depending on the terms and conditions of your policy, it may also be the only time you’re able to adjust your coverages or cancel your policy.
Even if you like your current carrier, it never hurts to shop around. You can request
car insurance quotes online
to compare rates.
Since your insurance is through the dealership, you may be able to find a better rate through an outside company.”
