Can you register a car without auto insurance?

I'm going to buy a car, but I want to hold off on buying the insurance since I won't start driving it right away. Can I register the car anyway?

It depends on the state. Some states are okay with this and some are not. I recommend checking with your local DMV or asking the dealership you are buying the car from to find out if you can register a car without insurance in your state.
