How much does it cost to weld a car frame?

How much would it cost me to get a welder to fix my car frame? It has some damage to it from an accident a while ago but my son just got his driver’s license so I’m looking into the possibility of repairing it so that he has a car.

It will often cost close to $10,000 to professionally weld a car frame, although the final price will depend on the extent of the
frame damage
to your car. However, some welders might tell you to scrap the vehicle, as a damaged frame can be dangerous for both the driver and other people on the road.
You’ll also need to make sure that the car meets the requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). If you get your car frame welded, make sure that your car meets the following criteria:
  • Your frame must still be in good condition with no cracks or sags
  • You must still have all of the required brackets and they must all be appropriately tightened.
  • The frame rail flanges can’t be cracked, bent, notched, or have holes drilled into them.
  • You can only weld the frame. No additional parts can be legally welded to your car.
Regardless of how you decide to proceed, you’ll need to make sure that your son is covered with a good car insurance policy to keep him safe. The
