Fix-it tickets can be frustrating, but they help keep our roads safe—and our cars in good shape! You can follow these simple steps to change the brake light in your Honda Accord:
  • Start by opening your trunk and removing the plastic trunk panel (or weatherstrip) by undoing the fasteners.
  • Locate the plastic trim screw holding the carpet in place, and take it out.
  • Gently pick up the carpet to reveal the backside of your tail light.
  • Give the top bulb (the brake light bulb) a one-quarter turn and pull it straight back to take it out of the housing.
  • Pull the old bulb out of the connector and replace it with your new one.
  • Put the new bulb back where you found the old one and turn it to lock it in place.
  • Test your brake lights to make sure they work.
  • Put back your carpeting, plastic trim screw, and weatherstrip.
If you follow those steps, you should have an easy time changing your
brake
lights.
Remember, this type of citation won’t cost you anything if you fix your car in time. But you’ll need to bring paperwork to the court. Check your ticket for more specific information about dismissing the fee.
