Audi
is well-known for making some high-performance, high-quality, luxurious supercars, and the 2022 Audi R8 seems to be no different. The Audi R8 is already one of the best convertible supercars on the market, and Audi's making some significant improvements to it in the 2022 model year.
Here's a look at the 2022 Audi R8 and whether or not it lives up to the hype.

A look at the specs of the 2022 Audi R8

At a price tag starting at about $152,000, according to
Car and Driver
, the R8 continues to be on the more affordable side of supercars. However, it's still equipped with a very powerful engine. It comes with a 5.2-liter V-10 engine, and it gets 562 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. This is a 30 hp increase from before.
Plus, folks can upgrade their engine a bit. The more powerful version of the R8's engines are available on the Performance trims, and it gets 602 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque.
Regardless, both engines are quick. The R8 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 to 3.0 seconds, depending on the engine. It can also hit a top speed of between 201 and 205 mph. That said, it only gets 16 mpg combined, so its fuel economy is going to be simply terrible.

What features are available on the 2022 Audi R8?

While the R8's performance is its best feature, the interior of the car is quite cool as well. There is, of course, a lot of leather everywhere, but Audi was a bit innovative with its tech, too.
Instead of having a digital gauge cluster and an infotainment screen, Audi simply combined the two to make a simple, interior layout. The screen is high-quality, of course, and the buttons in the cockpit are also easy-to-reach as well.
There's also a navigation system as standard, and many of the R8's features can be voice controlled. A 4G Wi-Fi hotspot is also standard, as are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. As a result, the R8's interior, while simple, is quite stylish and futuristic.

The R8 does have a few flaws, though. Obviously, since it's a supercar, it has an extremely small trunk, but most supercar customers are expecting that. Folks who are interested in cargo capacity should probably buy a midsize SUV instead.
Another issue with the R8 is that while it has a very powerful engine, it doesn't actually handle as well as its competitors. This problem isn't new to the 2022 model year, though. As such, while Audi didn't make a huge improvement in this regard, the improvements that Audi made elsewhere still make the 2022 R8 better than the older models.
In any case, this brand-new Audi coupe definitely lives up to the hype. It's supposed to be an affordable and stylish supercar, and it certainly is all of those things. Most of its issues come with the territory of buying a supercar, so those can be ignored for most folks.
A supercar as powerful and cool as the Audi R8 deserves to have the best car insurance policy possible.
