background
Kia
recently introduced new versions of two of their vehicles: the 2022 Carnival and the 2022 Telluride. If you're not up on all their specs, these two can seem pretty similar to each other at first glance. So when you're trying to decide between the two, it can help to take a closer look at how they compare.
The Kia Carnival and the Telluride offer surprisingly similar specs in many ways.

What are the specs for the 2022 Kia Carnival?

South Lake Kia
has broken down the specs on the Carnival for us. First, it's important to note that even though the Carnival has a lot in common with the Telluride, it's considered more of a minivan than an SUV.
The Carnival offers a 3.5L V6 engine with 290 horsepower. It has an eight-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive, and 3,500 lbs. max towing capacity. It also features Eco drive mode to increase fuel efficiency.
And speaking of fuel efficiency, the Carnival offers 19 MPG in the city and 16 MPG on the highway.

The award-winning Kia Telluride also has a lot going for it. And in many respects, this SUV is pretty similar to the Carnival minivan.
The Telluride comes equipped with a 3.8L V6 engine with just one more pony of power than the Carnival. It also offers the option of active on-demand all-wheel drive in addition to front-wheel drive.
Like the Carnival, the Telluride features an eight-speed automatic transmission. In addition to Eco mode, though, it also comes equipped with Comfort, Sport, and Smart drive modes.
As for mileage, with the Telluride, you can expect to get around 20 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway.

As you've seen, these two Kias offer surprisingly similar specs in many ways, even if the Telluride sometimes offers a few more options. So if you're thinking of buying one of them, how should you choose?
Cars Direct
has put together a helpful comparison between the two. They note that the Carnival is intended mainly for families and offers sliding doors not available on the Telluride. The Carnival also offers more maximum cargo space thanks to its removable second row.
The Telluride, on the other hand, offers a great deal more towing capacity. It's capable of hauling up to 5,000 lbs. What's more, Cars Direct gives it the nod for the luxury of its interior.
The Telluride's all-wheel-drive option, along with its greater ground clearance, also make it a possibly preferable choice for anyone who tends to drive in more difficult conditions.
All in all, though, these two Kias are remarkably similar in terms of price and what they bring to the table. The devil is in the details, as they say, so you'll need to look closely at exactly what features are most important to you.
Whether you're looking to buy a Kia Carnival, a Telluride, or a different vehicle altogether, you can't forget to insure your purchase before you hit the road.  For a lot of people, one of the biggest car-related hassles is finding the right insurance policy for their needs.
