What happened to the VW Beetle?
There are plenty of discontinued cars that should be resurrected, and the VW Beetle is certainly deserving of a spot on the list. The latest generation of Beetle was produced from 2011 to 2019 and was known as the A5.
While the VW Beetle A5 was never the best-selling car on the market, it was always an iconic model. When Volkswagen announced that production of the Beetle was coming to an end, many were confused and sad. Since then, there has been much speculation about what a future Beetle would look like.
A lot of the speculation has been focused on the possibility of an electric Beetle. An electric VW Bug would make a lot of sense considering the trajectory of the company as a whole. It would not be the only electric vehicle revival that they have done.

In 2020, they released their ID.4 electric crossover SUV, which has received mostly positive reception. They also announced a larger electric SUV, the ID.8.
