Texas-Based AutoPartners Insurance Acquired by Freeway Insurance

In November, AutoPartners, a
car insurance
provider in
Texas
, was bought by Freeway, an insurer owned by Confie, a national-wide company based in Huntington Beach, California.
If that was hard to follow, we get it. But this is how things go in the insurance business. Smaller, local providers get acquired by bigger companies all the time. In Texas alone, at least three state-based companies were bought out within the last week.
How these changes disrupt your coverage differs from acquisition to acquisition, but
Insurance Journal
says Freeway’s purchase included AutoPartners’ 17 locations and their employees, so their focus on rural markets will likely continue.
AutoPartners has always focused on smaller communities.

What kind of insurance company is AutoPartners?

Based in Amarillo, Texas, AutoPartners began in 1989 under a different name before becoming AutoPartners in 2001.
The company focuses on vehicle insurance of all kinds, be it cars and trucks or RVs and motorcycles, but it also provides homeowners, renters, and business insurance.
AutoPartners sets itself apart from competitors by prioritizing the delivery of its services to small communities rather than big cities. Of its 17 locations scattered across the Lone Star State, only one is in a major metropolis—Austin.
The independent-minded Texans who signed up for AutoPartners coverage might not like the idea of supporting a big conglomerate out of California, but Confie and its brands line up with AutoPartners’ core values more than you might think.

What kind of insurance company is Confie?

Insurance Journal says Confie is the ninth largest independent
property and casualty
insurance agency in the country. It offers coverage through over 150 partnerships with national and regional carriers, including Freeway Insurance and its sub-brands like AutoPartners.
Because it connects with regional insurance providers and brokers, it can maintain focus on specific community needs like AutoPartners is known for doing while growing in scale to rival the country’s biggest insurance providers.
So far, the concept is working. Since it began in 2008, it’s become the largest personal lines insurance agency in the U.S. (Personal lines insurance covers individuals for losses incurred from death, injury, or loss of property.)
