Recall Alert: Tesla EVs Have Issues With Suspensions Separating

Tesla
is recalling nearly 3,000
electric vehicles
(EVs). According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, it’s related to issues with suspensions separating.
To be more specific, there is a possibility that a suspension lateral link might separate from the sub-frame and change the car's wheel alignment. This could make the car unstable and cause a crash. Let's take a look at the models affected and what is being done to correct the problem.
Tesla models are facing another recall.

Which models are affected?

The
Tesla Model 3
is one of the models that are affected by the recall. It is the smallest and most affordable model in the Tesla lineup. For the 2021 model year, there were some updates including an updated interior, increased range on a full charge, and some additional features that will be offered standard.
The
Model Y
is also being recalled. It is the midsize offering in the Tesla lineup with the ability to seat up to seven passengers. Some updates for the 2021 model year include additional cargo space, an optional third row of seats, and SUV styling features for longer trips. It also features a very impressive range of 326 miles per charge, making it an attractive option for road trips.

The issues plaguing the EVs

According to
CNET
, there is a lateral suspension link that is faulty and needs to be serviced. The danger it presents is that it could come loose from the sub-frame and cause the vehicle to become unstable. This instability could cause an accident.
This recall comes on the heels of another issue that Tesla was having just a few weeks ago. According to the
Washington Post
, Tesla cars started behaving erratically after receiving an overnight software update. Owners reported that cars would suddenly slam on the brakes at highway speeds, increasing the risk of collisions. Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter and promised that the updates would be rolled back.
However, Tesla unexpectedly reported the glitch to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and issued an official recall notice detailing the problem, which may have affected nearly 12,000 vehicles. This was after Biden stepped up enforcement of regulatory laws regarding advanced driver-assistance systems. Tesla has a habit of issuing software fixes without reporting underlying problems.

Once owners bring the vehicles into the service center, technicians will tighten the lateral link fasteners to the sub-frame. Recall notices will be sent to owners who are affected on December 24. So if you own a Tesla, be on the lookout for the notice. Owners can also visit the
Tesla
website to see if their car has a recall.
Owning a Tesla is becoming more and more attainable. For those that couldn't afford EVs when they first launched, prices are coming down and they are quickly becoming more widespread.
Unfortunately, like most other mass-produced vehicles, recalls are going to happen. Thankfully, Tesla is doing their due diligence to make sure that the cars are as safe as possible.
Whether you own a Ford, a Chevy, or a Tesla, make sure you are always getting the best car insurance rate possible.
