This pocket-sized
electric vehicle
is way too cute. The Isetta-styled Microlino combines the retro bubble car packaging with a modern drivetrain. It’s a small car, but very affordable.
It’s making its way into production in Europe. Bubble car fans are hopeful for the design to find its way to North America as well.
Driving should be fun, and cute little Microlino Bubble car is sure to put a smile on your face.

The Microlino 2.0 bubble car has a starting price of $14,000

According to
Autoweek
, the starting price of only $14,000 makes the Microlino very affordable. The Microlino was shown at the Munich IAA Mobility show, where a selection of other cars were also launched.
The Microlino stole people’s hearts with its adorable appearance. As a small bubble car, the two-seat Microlino features a tiny 25-horsepower motor.
This EV will come in three trims:
  • Urban with a 6-kWh battery
  • Dolce with a 10.5-kWh battery
  • Competizione with a 14-kWh battery
The ranges of the Microlino 2.0 are quite respectable. The Urban has a range of 60 miles, the Dolce 109 miles,  and the Competizione 143 miles.
A big limitation of the Microlino is the top speed of 56 mph. But let’s be honest, even that is probably a higher number than you might expect from such a small car.
It’s definitely not meant to speed through the highway, but it makes for a rather quaint and attractive mode of transport within a city.
As for charging, the Microlino can be charged in four hours through a wall outlet.
To achieve an even simpler design, the Microlino has gotten rid of the front door handle. The driver’s key can pop the door out with the click of a button.

Small and convenient, but will it be brought to the U.S.?

The Microlino is expected to snuggle its way in Europe successfully, as there are many who might appreciate the decreased parking space the Microlino 2.0 would require.
The reduced parking space is a huge selling point, which would make the Microlino fantastic in places that lack easy parking such as New York City.
However, Autoweek notes that it might be a problem to bring such a car to the U.S. Safety concerns are the biggest problem. Such a small car will struggle with visibility in the headlights of pickup trucks with high hoods.
Unfortunately, due to the risk that comes with such a small, low-visibility car, we might not be seeing the Microlino or other such bubble cars reach stateside.
That is probably unless they figure out a way for increased visibility without sacrificing the cute, bubbly look.
