What kind of RV can haul a dozen kayaks up to the lake and then turn into a comfortable tent camper for up to five tired kayakers afterward? The SylvanSport GO. This amazing trailer was hailed by National Geographic Adventure as the "Coolest. Camper. Ever."
SylvanSport calls its multi-purpose folding tent trailer the “Swiss Army Knife” of camping trailers and that's a pretty apt description. It's part utility trailer, part toy hauler, part camper, and all fun! It may not be the most state-of-the-art camper available, but it's certainly an innovative and well-thought-out design.
The SylvanSport GO: A real multi-purpose trailer
The SylvanSport GO is compact, lightweight, and incredibly versatile. Haul building materials home from the big box store, pack a dozen trail bikes or kayaks, load it up with camping gear for the whole family...you get the picture. This little RV can fulfill almost any need an active family can throw its way.
According to RV Lifestyle Magazine, in Transport Mode, this trailer is 81 inches long, 48 inches wide, and 48 inches high with a load capacity of more than 800 pounds. Removing the roof section allows you to haul taller items. The specially reinforced diamond plate Control-Tilt deck eliminates the need for a ramp—simply roll your ATV or bikes onboard.
Even fully loaded, the GO pulls like a dream. You won't need a big truck or SUV to do the towing, either. It weighs just 840 pounds when it’s empty, and its hitch weight is a mere 75 pounds. That means the average family car will pull it with ease.
The innovative powder-coated aluminum exoskeleton is responsible for the trailer's lightweight, yet sturdy, construction. The design of the GO is environmentally friendly and easy on your wallet at the gas station, too.
This utility vehicle transforms into a tent trailer
It only takes around 20 minutes to transform the GO into a comfortable and roomy tent camper. Once your cargo is unloaded, of course. There's a simple rain fly over the entrance and a larger entrance awning is available that zips on for even more protection.
The basic GO is all about simple, off-road camping adventures. There are no hookups to worry about or dump stations to find. A portable toilet makes a handy addition and you'll want to haul plenty of clean drinking water. Fortunately, the GO makes hauling all of your camping gear and outdoor toys easy.
SylvanSport offers a GO Big package that includes additional storage, a tent awning, camper cover, and more. The GO All Out package offers the ultimate camping comfort and convenience features. On top of everything that comes with the previous two packages, it includes a screen room, camp kitchen, solar kit, and a couple of sleeping bags.
The three GO packages are priced at $10,995, $11,995, and $13,995, respectively.
Is the SylvanSport GO the most unique RV on the road?
The GO is probably not the most unique RV, but it's certainly one of the most interesting and versatile. Most RVs perform one or two functions very well. They might provide a luxurious travel experience, comfortable camping, or the ability to bring outdoor equipment along. However, few can provide all the functionality of a utility trailer, toy hauler, and tent camper in a single compact, lightweight, easy-to-tow package.
