The Fast and Furious movie franchise is extremely popular, especially with car enthusiasts and action film lovers. Fans enjoy the range of fast cars featured in the films and their fast-paced and thrilling storylines.
With the ninth Fast and Furious installment coming out in June, we decided to take a closer look at the series, the cars being featured in the latest film, and how expensive it would be to buy car insurance for them.
A ‘Fast and Furious’ timeline
The franchise was launched in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious, which starred the late Paul Walker as an undercover cop infiltrating a group of criminals. The first film was followed by seven sequels focusing on illegal street racing and heists, as well as two short films and a video game series.
As of April 2017, the movie franchise has earned more than $5 billion worldwide in the box office, making it Universal’s biggest franchise of all time, according to Fandom.
The ninth movie in the series, F9, costars many regulars from the franchise, including Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, and Tyrese Gibson, according to Variety.
The film will follow Dom, played by Vin Diesel, as he is leading a quiet life before he is forced to confront some sins of his past in order to save the ones he loves.
Making his Fast and Furious debut is John Cena, who will be starring as Jakob, a new villain, and Dom’s younger brother.
The film will also be bringing back some actors who have played roles in several movies in the past, including Jordana Brewster, Lucas Black, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, and Sung Kang.
Car insurance costs for the cars from ‘F9’
Of course, the Fast and Furious movies have always featured some very impressive cars that would not be too cheap to insure. We decided to take a closer look at the cars to be included in F9 and see what it would cost to insure them.
So far we know the movie will feature a Dodge Charger, a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, a Toyota Supra Base, a Jeep Gladiator Overland, and a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350.
According to Jerry’s own data, here’s about how much an annual car insurance policy would be for each of these cars:
- Dodge Charger: $3,427
- Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat: $10,800
- Toyota Supra Base: $2,547
- Jeep Gladiator Overland: $1,992
- Ford Mustang Shelby GT350: $4,200
With the average annual cost of full-coverage car insurance sitting around $1,000, it’s clear the cars in this movie are well above the cost of a typical policy.
A closer look at this data reveals that Jerry’s app can help with substantial savings on car insurance, particularly for the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat.
In fact, Jerry’s data shows that on average, our free app has saved Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat owners an average of $5,826 per year on car insurance.
