Ford
has gone big into off-road driving by creating monster trucks that combine performance with comfort. In 2021, Ford produced two models under the F-150 brand, the Raptor, and Tremor. Both
four-wheel-drive vehicles
run on a V-6 engine. The breakdown between the Ford Tremor vs Raptor will highlight the advancements Ford has made towards offroading.
However, there are many differences between them, ranging from design to capacity and general riding experience. Join us as we explore the Ford Tremor vs Raptor to find out what makes each truck unique.
The Ford Raptor and F-150 Tremor package are formidable off-roading machines.

Ford Tremor vs Raptor: Engine and transmission

Both off-road warriors come equipped with a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine. The engine is mated with an incredible 10-speed automatic transmission on a four-wheel drivetrain. However, the Raptor has a far better engine as it is fitted with a 3.5L High-Output EcoBoost V-6 compared to the standard one on the Tremor.
The difference between these engines is the output produced. Tremor's standard engine produces 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, while the Raptor's High-Output option produces around 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. However, Tremor has a greater towing capacity at 10,900 lb. compared to Raptor's 8,200 lb.
In addition, both models are fitted with an electronic locking rear differential with the option of a front Torsen limited differential. Those who buy the Tremor high-series trim will get a torque-on-demand transfer case that is currently only available on the Raptor.
The Tremor has an axle gear ratio of 3.73:1 against 4.10:1 on the Raptor. Therefore, the Raptor accelerates faster but also consumes more fuel per mile.

Ford Tremor vs Raptor: Interior and exterior

There are subtle differences when comparing the Ford Tremor vs Raptor exterior design. The Raptor has a bulging body, and its wheels look meatier. However, both trucks have boxy shapes with deep lines showing on the hood.
You will also notice that the Raptor has altered grilles, and its light fixtures look remarkably different from those of Tremor.
The Tremor enjoys a body lift, thanks to suspension upgrades. It also has new shocks and retuned springs. The front has monotubes, while the rear comes with twin-tube units. Ford has also changed the upper control arms and front knuckles to enhance the lift.
The Drive
states that despite the Tremor getting a lift, the Raptor has considerably better ground clearance as it features a Baja-inspired floor that is about 3.5 inches higher than that of Tremor. Ford has also modified the Raptor's panels to create a wider track than that of the Tremor.
Their interiors look remarkably similar. You will get stitched leather seats, a boxy, rugged dashboard, and subtle touches on otherwise basic control instruments. However, Raptor buyers get optional carbon-fiber interior accents and Recaro-bolstered front buckets.

How much do you pay for each truck?

According to
Motortrend
, the Raptor is significantly more expensive than the Tremor. Based on the pricing for the 2020 model, the 2021 F-150 Raptor may sell at around $65,840 to $85,000 while the 2021 Tremor may start at approximately $51,200, with the high trim selling at about $64,645.
If looking for an affordable off-road truck, Tremor has what it takes to take on Mother Nature. However, if you want a top-of-range design and the ability to handle the toughest aspects of the outdoors, the Raptor is the best choice.
From our Tremor and Raptor comparison, we found that both F-150 models are great off-road warriors, but the Raptor tips the scales with the best performance and features.
