Kia
is largely known for making relatively affordable cars, but the company also has some autos on
the higher end of the market
. The 2022 Kia Stinger is a luxury model in the Kia lineup, first introduced in 2017.
Now that it has a few model years under its belt, the Stinger is becoming a car that Kia fans look forward to each year. The Kia Stinger has received several upgrades for 2022, both in the style of the interior and exterior, as well as the specifications.
If you're in the market for a luxury car, the 2022 Kia Stinger is one you should consider. It gives you the style and performance you'd expect from a luxury model at a lower cost than the luxury vehicles of other brands.
You’ve probably seen it on the road and took a double-take. Here is the Kia Stinger.

What you get in a 2022 Kia Stinger

Car and Driver
write about the specs of the 2022 Kia Stinger, which is a fairly impressive list. You get your choice of two turbocharged engines; a new 300-hp 2.5-liter turbo-four comes standard, but you can upgrade to a 368-hp twin-turbo 3.3-liter V-6.
Either engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission that delivers quick shifts.
If you're looking for speed, the Stinger has it; it went zero to 60 in 4.6 seconds in track testing. The four-cylinder model has EPA ratings of 22 mpg city and 32 on the highway, with those numbers dropping to 17 and 24, respectively, for the V-6.

2022 Kia Stinger: Styling overview

Car and Driver called the Stinger's interior "well-designed and attractive," writing that it has a much more comfortable rear seat than other vehicles in its class.
Its wide hatchback opening gives you
plenty of cargo space
, and Kia's UVO infotainment system is on-board, with 8-in. or 10.3-in. touchscreen options. The interior also gets metallic trim pieces and adjustable ambient lighting.
On the outside, you get updated lighting elements from previous generations, new wheel designs, and larger exhaust tips.
The publication describes the Stinger's style as "sexy lines with hatchback practicality" and praises it for its "premium look and feel," even on the base model.

What's different from last year's Kia Stinger?

Giving car upgrades from one model year to the next is standard practice for automakers as a way to entice buyers, and Kia did just that with the Stinger. Both engine options in 2022 are upgrades from the 2021 model.
Last year's base engine was a 255-hp turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and the optional bump-up had 365 hp, compared to 2022's 368 hp. That slight power boost is due to a new variable exhaust system.
The price for the 2022 model is about 10% higher than the base model. This year's Stinger starts at $37,135, but last year you would have had to pay a few thousand less at $34,135
If you opt for the highest-end GT2, the $52,335 price tag is only about $1,000 more than last year's price.
Even though the 2022 Kia Stinger costs less than what people think a luxury car would be priced, it still isn't an inexpensive investment. When you buy a new car, you want to protect your investment with a good insurance policy.
