Electrify America’s charging station app for electric vehicles
The long-awaited Electrify America mobile app is now available. The app allows drivers to find nearby EV charging stations through your vehicle's Android Auto or Apple CarPlay infotainment system.
The announcement comes after dominant EV automaker Tesla mentioned plans to open its Supercharger network to other EV brands. That happened earlier in 2021, and it will probably be implemented in 2022.
Additionally, Electrify America plans to stop installing CHAdeMO chargers in 2022. That is part of the company's major move towards making CC52 chargers the standard.

First, understand that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow users to connect with their smartphones to access communication, music, and navigation. Electrify America's mobile app update will be an extension of that allowing users to locate stations within the company's network.
The software allows users to trace the location of the approximately 650 charging stations that Electrify America operates across the U.S. Drivers will be able to navigate to EV charging stations directly from their car.
The app also offers details on the availability of charger types at a station and the number of chargers available for use. Other services that users can enjoy include accessing information about charging plans.
That will include pricing and details about any free charging that may be included with the purchase of an EV. Additionally, Electrify America's mobile app update will allow users to initiate or end a charge session through their EV infotainment screen.

The company intends to invest $2 billion over 10 years in Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) access, infrastructure, and education. The investment will also support building a nationwide network of highways, workplaces, and community chargers that are reliable and convenient. The expectation is that by the end of 2025, Electrify America will have over 1,700 charging stations with more than 9,500 chargers.
