Which Mercedes cars will have Dolby Atmos?
Mercedes intends to introduce the new immersive Dolby Atmos that uses the latest MBUX interface and 3D or 4D sound systems in their cars. It will first be available in the 2022 Maybach S-Class models. We expect the system to be standard on all models in the near future once the MBUX interface is added to all of them.

, Atmos will use a 4D sound system that is already installed in the car. This system includes 31 speakers that are spread across the cabin. Six of these speakers create a 3D sound effect due to their placement.An additional four speakers, known as near-ear speakers, are placed in the front seats to amplify the sound that gets to the passengers' ears. Each seat comes with two sound transducers, also called sound exciters, to bounce the sound waves. The system has a 1.85-liter subwoofer for a mind-blowing boom.
All these parts are connected to two power amplifiers, which do the audio processing. This system is guaranteed to provide an all-around, vertically-enhanced sound field that will excite your ears, no matter what you are listening to.
Mercedes is not the first carmaker to include a revolutionary sound system in its high-end models. A while back, Lucid Air introduced the surround sound system to its electric sedan. The carmaker used a 21-speaker system that it calls Surreal Sound.
