It's a battle of luxury SUV imports. We'll be comparing the German-made
Audi
Q7 against the British-made Range Rover from Land Rover.
Both of these cars easily fit into the luxury category, are quite large, and come with a big price tag. If you're looking for an affordable SUV, you may want to look elsewhere.
If you’re looking for a bit of luxury, though, here's everything you need to know about the Audi Q7 and the Range Rover.
The Audi Q7 and the Range Rover are both luxurious choices for your next SUV.

How much do the Audi Q7 and Range Rover cost?

Audi's aren't known for being cheap, and the Q7 is no exception. The Premium 45, the Q7's stock model, starts at $54,950 according to
NewCars
. The Q7’s upper trim level, the Prestige 55, goes as high as $60,800. While these are pretty expensive, the prices dwarf in comparison to the Range Rover.
The Range Rover stock model, aptly named Base, will start at $69,500. That's almost $10,000 more than the premium Q7 model. The top-shelf SV Autobiography Range Rover starts at $130,000.
The Q7 clearly wins on affordability. However, many versions of the Range Rover have superior gas mileage. The specifications will vary, but the Range Rover gets 20-28 mpg highway, versus the Q7's 23 mpg highway. The Range Rover also has some hybrid options, which can provide about 19 miles of electric driving.

Which has better performance?

The Audi Q7 is a bit limited in engine options compared to the Range Rover. The Q7 only has two available engine types: an inline-four or a V-6. The inline-four is nothing to scoff at. It can still produce 248 horsepower and a maximum torque of 273 lb-ft, according to
Car and Driver
. The Q7s that carry a V-6 have 335 horsepower and a maximum torque of 369 lb-ft.
The Range Rover has a lot more engine types to choose from. The Base comes with a turbocharged inline-six. This has better performance than the Q7 stock model. The Base produces 355 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque.
The SV Autobiography carries a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8. This beefy engine can produce 557 horsepower and a maximum torque of 516 lb-ft, so it might be worth the money.

How do the interiors compare?

For everyday driving, most people care far more about the interior than anything under the hood. The Range Rover continues its tradition of having standard leather seats, a leather steering wheel, and wood-veneer trim.
On premium models, the Range Rover can come with massaging seats and wood-finished cup holders.
The Q7 isn't too shabby either. The Q7 focuses on a minimalist interior, which is nice for those who don't like complex control systems. The Q7 continues Audi's tradition of pairing black consoles contrasted against chrome trimming. The Range Rover has a more traditional feel whereas the Q7 feels more modern.
