background
Back in 2020,
Toyota
reintroduced one of its most legendary sports cars: the Supra. And before the year heads for the door, we thought we'd take a look at the 2021 Toyota Supra, which features some upgrades from the 2020 version.
Our question is this: does the 2021 model live up to the reputation of its classic forerunner, which was one of the clear stars of the Fast and the Furious franchise going back to its beginning? Read on to find out.
The legend of the Supra returned to the US market in 2021.

The 2021 Toyota Supra is a futuristic version of its classic ancestor

There's a lot to take note of when it comes to the 2021 Toyota Supra. For starters, it's got an impressive eight-speed automatic transmission-- and while some folks might prefer a manual, the truth is, it's hard to complain about what the Supra's transmission offers.
Car and Driver
found it remarkable how the car changes gears "crisply" and "responds quickly to the Supra's paddle shifters."
Then there's the question of in-cabin entertainment. Toyota has given the Supra a big upgrade in this regard. It's replaced the previous 6.5-inch infotainment screen with a larger 8.8-inch display, which is now standard across the entire lineup.
Perhaps to celebrate the Supra's continuation of its legacy in the racing film world, Toyota has made a pretty unique offer for anyone purchasing a Supra: buying a Supra will get you a one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association
Additionally, you a complimentary day at a high-performance driving event. Really, what more could you ask for when purchasing a new car?

So what more does the 2021 Toyota Supra offer for consumers?
Kelley Bluebook
gives us the lowdown: for starters, it comes with a whopping 382 hp, up from 335 hp in the 2020 version of the car
Not only that, but its fuel economy beats much of the competition as well. It provides 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, for overall combined fuel efficiency of 25 mpg.
This 2021 version of the Supra also provides more options than the 2020 version did when it comes to engine types. There's now a four-cylinder Supra model, which features a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 offering 255 horsepower, which is still nothing to sneeze at.

The short answer to this question, if we're to believe the reviews coming in from
Car and Driver,
is that yes, the 2021 Supra more than lives up to the reputation of its ancestors. Car and Driver have named the new Supra to its Editors' Choice and annual 10 Best lists for two years in a row.
If you're thinking of nabbing a 2021 Toyota Supra, you'll of course need to look into car insurance as well. Anyone driving without car insurance is risking financial catastrophe should they be involved in an accident. Not to mention that most states have legal requirements for insurance.
