The Jaguar brand enjoys a long history of automotive excellence. Cars from the brand have been revered for their style and capability for decades, and for many drivers, the brand is the ultimate in automobile luxury and classic cars.
Jaguar's history dates back to 1922 when William Lyons founded the company. Lyons was an entrepreneur who operated a company that manufactured small engines. His business expanded, and he decided to branch out into building his vehicles.
Lyons' first car, the SS, was powered by a 2.5-liter aircraft engine. It was an innovative, lightweight vehicle that marked the turning point in the company's history. Since then, Jaguar has produced many iconic cars, including the original XK120 and E-Types.
Today, Jaguar produces several models of vehicles, including sedans, coupes, SUVs, convertibles, and crossovers. Here are the best vintage Jaguars of all time.

The vintage Jaguar E-Type

Jaguar E-Types are the best vintage sports cars ever built. This is, of course, a subjective opinion, but it's an opinion shared by Jaguar enthusiasts around the world. Everything about the E-Type was elevated to a level that had never been seen before, from its sculpted, sensuous lines to its powerful engine.
The E-Type was a sports model produced by Jaguar from 1961 until 1975. It featured a 2.5-liter inline-six-cylinder engine that developed 160 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque. The styling of the E-Type was sleek and futuristic, and the car's performance was also impressive.
The original E-Type was powered by a 3.8-liter engine that produced 265 horsepower. This was later replaced by a 4.2-liter engine that produced 265 horsepower. The E-Type 3 Series was a more performance-oriented model that featured a more powerful 5.3-liter engine that produced 272 horsepower.

Jaguar XJ220

Simple, elegant, and muscular, the Jaguar XJ220 remains one of the 20th century's most intriguing cars. It was a limited-production supercar designed, engineered, and manufactured by Jaguar between 1977 and 1980. It was Jaguar's first mid-engine car and one of the first hypercars (for the time).
It was powered by a 3.5 Liter V6 Engine that produced 542 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. With 0-60 in 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 170 mph, the XJ220 was one of the fastest production cars of its day.
However, only 282 of the intended 350 units were produced and retailed for £470,000, making it one of the most expensive cars at the time. Today, the Jaguar XJ220 has become a rarer classic car to find as only 12 units are remaining.
Jaguar XKSS: A vintage Jaguar legend
The Jaguar XKSS was one of the most ambitious cars ever built by Jaguar. First unveiled in 1956 as a modification of the leftover D-Type race car, it was intended as the brand's first true performance car.
Its design was based heavily on the British firm's experience with racing cars. The modifications were simple, like adding a passenger seat to transform it from a race car to a road-going vehicle.
The XKSS model was powered by a 3.4-liter straight-six that produced 262 horsepower. This engine was mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, and the car could reach a top speed of 116 mph.
Only 25 XKSS units were made. However, in 1957, nine cars that were to be exported to North America were lost to a fire at Jaguar's Browns Lane factory in the British Midlands. Today, this vintage car is a gold mine to collectors and is worth millions of dollars.
