Did you participate in Drive Electric Earth Day this year?
It was a true Earth Day event, with events scheduled across the Earth on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Oahu, New Zealand, and Canada. However, the vast majority took place right here in the U.S.
Highlights of this year's Drive Electric Earth Day events
On Sunday, April 3rd, Paihia, New Zealand hosted a Breakfast with the Cars event that paired with the Mangawhai Easter Day Car Show. Visitors were able to admire classic cars of the past alongside the most modern electric vehicles.
An online-only event took place in Queretaro City, Mexico on Friday, April 22nd. Supercharging Mexico discussed home charging, local public charging, and Mexico's EV charging infrastructure.
On Saturday, April 23rd, revelers in San Luis Obispo, CA could ride and drive plus visit the EV Showcase at the city's Earth Day festival.
Also on Saturday, April 23rd, Lewisville, TX hosted the ColorPalooza Eco-Alley. A small EV car show accompanied the artistic and cultural performances, along with plenty of fun art activities for all the young buckaroos.
Not to be outdone on the 23rd, Dover, DE celebrated Delaware Earth Day 2022 with games, food trucks, and a brewery tour. The new BMW i4 and iX were on display and Polestar test drives were available.
The Balboa Park Earth Fair took place in San Diego, CA on Sunday, April 24th. Organizers refer to it as "the world's largest free environmental fair and Earth Day celebration."
Earth Day (April 22nd) falls on a Saturday in 2023 and plans are already surely afoot to make next year's Drive Electric Earth Day even more enticing. Plan on attending at least one event if you want to dig deeper into the realities of owning an electric vehicle.
