Harassment went unchecked at Tesla plant in Fremont, California
In November 2021, a woman who used to work at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Fremont sued the automaker, claiming that coworkers routinely made sexual comments about her and touched her inappropriately while she worked and that nothing happened after she told her supervisors.
In fact, in some cases, supervisors were directly involved in the harassment these women suffered, making it even more difficult for them to know where to turn.
The women hope the lawsuits will result in accountability at Tesla’s factories, compensation for the harm they experienced, and an end to the behavior.
Tesla’s other current controversies and lawsuits
Racial discrimination and sexual harassment of employees haven’t been the only sources of scandal for Tesla lately. Issues involving the function of their products have also caused people to sue the automaker.
Another customer sued the automaker in August 2021 for "fraudulently conceal[ing] its engineering failures." Both cases are ongoing.
Lawsuits and disputes don’t seem to damage Tesla
Even with all this scrutiny, Tesla continues to outsell competing electric car makers. If that leaves a bad taste in your mouth, fear not. Despite being the most popular EV brand, Tesla is far from the only company making electric vehicles.
Most automakers have at least one EV available, and new brands like Rivian are joining the game as well. Many of them have similar capabilities to Teslas and car insurance is often cheaper for them.
No matter what brand of EV you go with though, the best way to save on coverage is to shop with Jerry. A licensed broker that offers end-to-end support, the Jerry app gathers affordable quotes, helps you switch plans, and can even help you cancel your old policy.
Jerry customers save an average of $887 a year on car insurance payments!
